Boston Harbor Stripers: 35-Incher Caught on June Trip

I headed out with Shrunga for an early morning fishing trip in Boston, MA this June. We launched at 7:00 am under skies that were initially overcast but promised to clear up as the day progressed. The weather forecast called for clearing conditions in the afternoon, which had us optimistic about our prospects on the water. As we set out from our meeting spot in Boston, MA, near Boston Logan International Airport, the anticipation was high for what the day might bring. Flounder fishing is best in spring, targeting muddy flats in 20-30 feet of water using squid or sea worms on a bottom rig.

Given the conditions and target species, we employed a variety of techniques throughout our trip. We focused on bottom fishing, jigging, and trolling - all effective methods for targeting striped bass in the area. These approaches allowed us to cover different depths and structures where stripers tend to hold. Our efforts paid off when Shrunga hooked into a nice striped bass measuring 35 inches. Striped bass are perfectly suited for the diverse habitats of Boston Harbor, with its mix of deep channels, rocky structures, and tidal flats providing ideal feeding grounds for these powerful gamefish.
