December Whitetail Victory Through Boston Woods and Open Ground
Action-packed day from the get-go! I took Shrunga out for a winter hunt around Boston this December, starting our afternoon session right at 12:45 pm. The weather was perfect early on, though we knew clouds were rolling in later. That dog don't hunt when conditions get too thick, but we had wicked good timing with Joseph Company.
Once the stage was set, we focused on spot-and-stalk and still hunting techniques that work great in this area. The Boston terrain gives us solid opportunities to glass open areas and move quietly through cover. We managed to harvest a nice white-tailed deer using these methods before the afternoon clouds moved in.
The combination of still hunting and drive hunting really pays off around Boston. We were pushing woods methodically when everything came together. By the time those afternoon clouds rolled in, we had already wrapped up with success. No suh, it was one of those hunts where patience and technique made all the difference on The Cape region.
