Winter terrain teaches valuable lessons in aggressive hunting!
Hot bite and happy crew! I took Shrunga out for a winter hunt around Boston this December, starting our afternoon session right after lunch. The partly cloudy skies made for wicked good hunting conditions as we headed into the field with Joseph Company.
Once the stage was set, we focused on spot-and-stalk techniques to work the terrain. I had us still hunting through some prime areas where the cover was just right for our approach. The Boston area gives hunters solid opportunities for these active methods since the mixed habitat lets you glass effectively and move when you need to.
We spent time pushing woods and working different zones throughout the afternoon. Even though we got busted a few times, that's just how it goes when you're being aggressive with your approach. No suh, we didn't notch a tag on this hunt, but every hour in the field was worth it. The action kept us moving and learning the area better.
