Discover Boston's Surprising Catch: Evening Harbor Adventure
I took soundarya and their crew out for an evening fishing trip in Boston, MA this June. We met up at 6:00 pm in Boston, ready to hit the water as the day was winding down. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, which can often lead to some interesting fishing conditions. With six eager anglers on board, we set out from Boston MA, hoping to make the most of the evening bite. As a guide for Joseph Company, I was excited to provide The best experience for soundarya and their crew on this Fishing test outing. Boston Harbor offers excellent opportunities for striped bass fishing, especially around structure like the harbor islands and rocky shorelines. Trolling tube-and-worm rigs near ledges or casting topwater lures at dawn near Castle Island can be productive. Flounder fishing is best in deeper channels using squid or sea worms on a bottom rig. For mackerel, try jigging near the outer harbor buoys in late spring.
Given the conditions, we employed a mix of fly fishing, trolling, and bait casting techniques. These methods are well-suited for the diverse fishing opportunities in Boston Harbor. While we were hoping to target some of the local species, we ended up catching goldfish, which was quite unexpected for this area. No fish length data was available for our catches. Goldfish are not typically found in Boston Harbor, so this was certainly an unusual outcome for our fishing expedition.
