"After-Dark Stripers: Boston Harbor's Nighttime Bite"

I took Shrunga out for an evening fishing trip in Boston, MA this June. We launched from our meeting spot near Boston Logan International Airport at 7:30 pm, just as the sun was starting to dip lower in the sky. The weather was cooperating nicely, with partly cloudy conditions throughout our outing. This time of year often brings ideal conditions for fishing in the harbor, and tonight was no exception. As a guide with Joseph Company, I was excited to show Shrunga why we call this The best experience. Boston Harbor offers excellent striped bass fishing from May through October, with fish congregating around structure like the numerous harbor islands, bridge pilings, and rocky shorelines. Trolling tube-and-worm rigs along deeper channels or casting topwater plugs near Dawn and dusk can be productive. Bluefish also frequent the outer harbor in summer, while flounder can be targeted in deeper holes with squid or sea worm baits.

Given the conditions, we employed a mix of fly fishing, trolling, and bait casting techniques. These methods are well-suited for targeting the various species that call Boston Harbor home. While goldfish aren't typically found in these waters, we focused our efforts on more common local catches. The diverse structure and abundant baitfish in Boston Harbor make it an excellent fishery for anglers of all skill levels.
