Boston's waters offer surprisingly diverse diving opportunities that change with the seasons. Summer dives like our August trip benefit from warmer water temperatures (typically 65-72°F) and better visibility ranging from 10-30 feet depending on recent weather conditions. The partly cloudy skies create ideal lighting for underwater photography without excessive glare. For maximum comfort, consider a 7mm wetsuit for extended dives, though 5mm suits work well for shorter summer explorations. Morning dives typically offer calmer surface conditions and clearer visibility before afternoon winds pick up. First-time divers should plan for a skills session before the main dive, while certified divers can immediately focus on marine life observation. The Cape waters surrounding Boston are known for consistent marine encounters, particularly from June through September.
